Beaded Birdhouse Card

Hello friends, here is my card for http://thecolorroom.ning.com palette #94. This is one of my favorite websites. Each week they have a color challenge, most people make scrapbook pages, but I love making cards. The creative works of art that people submit really inspire me. Check out their photo wall it is always amazing.

I love the birdcage trend and went ahead and made my own beaded wire birdcage for this card.

Here is a shot of the back of the card. I added some wrinkled green corners and tacked them on with a brass brad.

I am thrilled that we have a new scrapbook store in town. http://sparkspaperdaisies.com They have a great selection of product. I fell in love with this My Mind's Eye paper and luckily it was perfect for the color palette this week.
Thank you so much for stopping by and please leave a comment, I would love to hear from you. Have a great day!

My Childhood Friend...

My childhood friend contacted me through Facebookand our friendship picked up right where we left off. We had so much in common as kids, it is the same now. Both of us avid crafters, I knew I wanted to make her something special for her birthday this year.

Thinking that she might like some Mary Engelbreit inspiration in her craft room I put together this little book on a ring for her. I used some Mary Engelbreit graphics and some quotes that had been featured in her magazine, Home Companion, printed them up and attached them to some chipboard coasters I had.
I layered up some paper, added some buttons and ribbon to finish it off. I then punched a hole through each coaster and threaded them on an extra large key ring. Tied ribbon on the key ring and it is all ready to go on a hook! I personalized it by adding my favorite childhood nickname for her on the back.
I am so happy to be in touch again and sharing our crafting adventures, friendship and birthdays!!

A 21st Birthday.....

A 21st birthday is always a memorable milestone and celebration. We celebrated my son's fiancee's 21st birthday last March, and documented pretty much every moment with photos.

Anticipating the many memorable photos to be taken, I decorated this chipboard box for her to store them in.

I love to personalize a gift with the person's initial so I put a large curly "A" on the top of the box. She has a beautiful Hawaiian name, Aulii.

I had a black accordion style photo album that fit perfectly in the box, I decorated it with some scrapbook papers, die cuts and stitched around the edges with gold thread.

One quick non-paper related  topic, found this delicious blouse for Aulii, for her 22nd birthday. I couldn't resist, it is so bridal! Hopes she likes it : )

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you are having a nice day or night!

Open the Gate

I have always loved a gate leading into a beautiful garden. As soon as I saw this gate diecut at the Silhouette online store, I started thinking about this card. Roses and vines curling up the gate, I hope this is the kind of card you just want to open the gate and go on in.

I cut 4 gates and layered them to give the card a sturdy feel. The vines are a Silhouette diecut too.

I stamped the inside edges and cut a Cricut frame from the Cricut Halloween cartridge. I layered the frame too and added some rhinstones for some bling. The paper for this card was bought at Michael's. I posted this card on  thecolorroom.ning.com  for their palette challenge #93. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

My First Post

Hello paper lovers welcome to my very first blog. This is my first card of 2012. It is based on a color palette for one of my favorite websites, The Color Room. The gate is a sihouette die cut layered 4 times. The leaves are from the Storybook Cricut Cartridge. The crinkled ribbon is from My Craft Spot. I rolled the small roses up myself.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
