Looking for some vintage Valentine decor?
Check out this vintage-y mini heart banner I made.
I have been coveting this metal wall file at World Market for months. Finally it went on sale and I had a coupon that was good for sale items too!! How lucky was that? Sale price + coupon.....
Oh how I love thee!!
To show my love for my new favorite piece of wall decor I made this mini vintage-y heart banner.
In the photo below you can see the cool black clothesline clips I used to clip the banner to the file.
Here is a mini tutorial for the mini banner, first I cut three hearts with my Silhouette Cameo. I made them about three and half inches tall and two inches wide. Then I wrinkled the paper hearts, next I rubbed brown ink on the wrinkled hearts. That gave the hearts a vintage-y aged look.
I cut some four inch long strips of lace. I gathered up the lace in the middle to make lace angel wings. I cut out three cardboard hearts with scissors and rubbed some brown ink on the cardboard too. Finally with my hot glue gun, I glued everything together, the cardboard heart, the wrinkled heart, the lace and lastly the dried red roses. I even hot glued the twine to the back of the banner.
I have about 1,000 ideas for this wall file, but the first thing I put in it is this really cool vintage book about Reno Nevada a friend gave to me. I love it, what a perfect gift for me!!! It goes great with the aged look of the wall file. The book inspired me to print out a couple of vintage postcards of Reno Nevada to add to my vignette.
So the wall file will be a work in progress. It reminds me of my dads (Marvin) old office at his gas distributorship. I am sure he had something like this....and I am sure he paid way less for his than I did for mine!!
I wanted to "valentize" the file a bit but not to much, so presto the mini heart banner! A quick easy project, I had all the materials already in my stash of craft goodies.
Thank you for stopping by today. I really appreciate you taking the time to check out my banner! Sign up to follow me by e-mail so you don't miss my next fun project!
