4th of July Tags

Do you love the color combo of red, white and blue?
I hope so because I have some patriotic tags to share with you today.
The local scrapbook store (Paper Daisies) holds a tag class every month. Wendy the store owner designs three tags each month for the class. She also showcases a new product at each class and often treats everyone in the class to the product!! Yeah, it doesn't get much better than that! Wendy is beyond creative, so each month I look forward to what she has in store for us!!
As you can see from these gorgeous tags, she never disappoints!
Pookie and I go every month to the tag class. There are always so many friendly talented ladies there. I love crafting with such a fun group!!

Below is a picture of the three tags together that we made in June.
 I can't pick a favorite, I love them all!!
How are you spending the holiday this year? We will watch the fireworks at John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks Nevada. The Nugget generously puts on a great fireworks display every year. I am hoping for a thunderstorm free day tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed for us northern Nevadans.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day, Lori

Thank you Wendy for another great class at Paper Daisies!!!

Personalized Banner

Looking for a creative personalized gift idea?? Today I have a darling banner I made for a young birthday girl.

Pink Banner for Girl

A friend asked me to come up with a cute girly banner. Off to Paper Daisies I went to pick up some PINK paper!! Oh boy!! Pun intended.....

Pink flower ribbon, pinwheels, glitter and pearls make for a very girly banner

I used a border punch to make some fold over tabs for each pendant. I then slipped a dowel through the tabs. I had already painted the dowel white. I tied a piece of twine to the dowel to hang the banner with.

I ended up adding two more white bows to both ends of the dowel. I somehow forgot to take a picture of the banner with all the bows....?????? Oh well I will blame it on my advancing age!!!

I hope the birthday girl likes her banner!! I think the banner and the framed ballerina in the photo below will make a nice gift for a sweet girl!

Pink Ballerina

Do you need a unique pink girly girl gift? I have a solution for you
Pink Tulle
A friend asked me to come up with gift idea for a five year old girl, something pink and ballerina-ish.
I choose this ballerina die cut from Silhouette. I cut three ballerinas. I glued them together, one on top of the other, to make a thicker ballerina. It adds a bit of dimension.
Next I gathered some pink tulle for the skirt. I attached the tulle with a dot of glue from the glue gun. I love the 3-D look of the skirt. It is all about the texture! I added a punch border to the right side of the frame.

Below is a picture of the banner I made to go with the ballerina. I will be adding a post about the banner later, please check back.
So if you are in need of a girly girl gift, I hope this inspires you. As the mom of two (grown) boys, I love a "girl" project. Thank you for asking Leta, you know I enjoyed making this!!!

Pink Roses

There is an empty house in our neighborhood.
And I am not really happy about it.
Because I miss my neighbor that planted these pink roses....
at what is now the empty house in our neighborhood.
So I cut a bouquet to bring inside.
I guess you could say a good neighbor is a thing of beauty,
and a joy forever!
We are so thankful for ALL of our wonderful neighbors!!

Window Box Geraniums

Do you have a favorite window box flower? If your answer is Geraniums it's your lucky day!
My dear friend Paula has several window boxes that are works of art.
Paula says they are "work" so maybe they are a labor of love?

The Creeping Jenny is just getting started, by the end of summer it will be brushing the ground.
This table set above and below is just one of many in Paula's backyard. I love how it is aging.
I love the heart detail on the back of the chair.

What a great idea Paula had to add the solar lights to her window boxes.

I have loved and envied Paula's beautiful window boxes for years. Last year my sweet hubby built me two window boxes of my own!! Below are some photos of my backyard window box at the end of last summer.
The inside view of the geraniums looked just as beautiful as the outside view did.
The Creeping Jenny thrived, as did the geraniums.

This year I went with a petunia theme for my window box, check back later this summer for photos.
I hope you enjoyed the Geranium window box tour. Thank you to Paula for again letting me showcase her charming yard. All the love and creativity Paula pours into her home inspires me to no end!!  I hope it inspires you too!
Thank you for stopping by. Have a great day, Lori

Lilacs

Do you love lilacs? I do. I love their sweet fragrance, their old fashion look, all the lavender and purple blooms. And I love how hardy they are. With our eccentric spring weather here in northern Nevada I appreciate a tough lilac bush.

We moved into our house during the month of October, 23 years ago. No lilacs were blooming then, but the lilac bushes still made a great natural border between our house and two of our neighbors houses.

I jumped for joy our first spring at our house when the lilacs bloomed!! Their huge!!! Needless to say I have spent 23 springs photographing, making bouquets and loving our lilacs!

Below is a photo of what the lilacs look like from our neighbors yard. Privacy for us all...courtesy of Mother Nature!!!
