I am so flattered to say that this post has been featured as the most viewed link this week at Maria Elena's Our Home Away From Home Party!! Thank you so much Maria Elena, Paula and I are both thrilled! Make sure to check out the other features and Maria Elena's blog, just a hint she has a pretty fabulous home you will want to check out. Don't miss the link at the bottom of this post.
Is there a house in your neighborhood that is decorated for each season and holiday?

Sandwich Chalkboard

You know it, you check it out every time you drive by.

My dear friend Paula has a home like that. With all of her loving touches, Paula's home offers a heartfelt welcome to all.

Wheelbarrow

I love how Paula can turn anything into a treasure. Like the old wheelbarrow in the photo below. When I pulled up to her house it was the first thing I noticed. Paula made that rusted old thing priceless, is what I thought!. A bit of Paula panache!!

Sweet little touches of fall fill up Paula's yard.

Darby, Paula's sister, makes these autumn buntings in the picture below for all of Paula's windows. The bunting is made out of an outdoor vinyl tablecloth. Clever and cute. I think they add so much charm to Paul's decor.

I love the fabric Paula choose for her awnings below. The awnings look quaint and modern at the same time. The contrasting shutters add the perfect edging for the window.

 The window boxes are overflowing!

Thanks for the autumn eye candy Paula!

Paula, your porch is beautiful! Thank you for letting me share it on my blog.

I appreciate you stopping by today. Hope you enjoyed your visit. I know I feel like running out for a pumpkin spice latte now.

 Have a cozy fall day.

DIY Happy Fall Y'All Pumpkin

Do you savor each day of fall?
Does it feel like the days just fly by and soon it will be Christmas?
Errr that's a jarring thought!!
Best to be in the moment.
Happy Fall Y'All!!!
I made this happy lil' guy about 15 years ago. Wow! Time sure does fly by. I know I saw him in a magazine but I can't remember what magazine it was. So I am sorry I can't give credit to the original designer.
He's a bit faded...but overall he has held up over the years.

His head is made of muslin. Stitched and stuffed. I drew his face on with a black Sharpie marker. I used some rouge on his cheeks and nose. His hair is spanish moss topped off with a straw hat from the dollar store. He is sporting a raffia bow tie, that's a sign of the times!
I painted the letters on the sign first with white paint then black so that the wording would stand out.
Check out the "dot font" I used that font for everything back then, it was so forgiving.
I used the glue gun to attach an old pair of garden gloves to the sign for his hands, and tucked some leaves in them. The sign has a three inch nail through the middle that sticks out the back so I can easily stick it to the pumpkin. Yes pun intended.

I cut his feet(above photo)out of some scraps of pine and painted them black, then sanded the edges. I curled up some wire for the legs, hooking one end to the shoes and poking the other end of the wire into the pumpkin.
Each piece can be removed and re-used year after year or rather decade after decade.
Collage I love this happy guy and I always assemble him with the first pumpkin of the year. I know I could use a fake pumpkin for his body but I like going old school and using a real pumpkin, he deserves it!
I hope you are enjoying, savoring and having a happy fall.

DIY Autumn Table Runner

Looking for an easy Autumn project?

I have a quick table runner you can put together in an hour or so.

First decide how wide and long you want your table runner to be. Cut your fabric accordingly. Then place the right side of the fabric together and stitch down both sides of the table runner.

Press your seams open after stitching. Do not skip this step, it will give the table runner a more finished look.

Turn the fabric right side out and press the seams again.

Measure and cut your trim. I attached my trim with a glue gun.

First I glued the length of the trim then I tucked the outer ends of the trim under the table runner and adhered them with a dot of glue from the glue gun.

Quick, easy and the trim lays nice and flat.

One more pressing with the iron needed!

Then I added some Autumn decor.

This was an easy project. I love the way this burlap table runner turned out. Sewing with burlap can be messy sometimes as burlap can shed. But this particular fabric has a tight weave and hardly shed at all.

I want to say welcome and a sincere thank you to my new followers!! I appreciate all my followers and everyone who visits! Hope you are enjoying some fabulous Autumn weather.

Thank you for stopping by, have a great day, Lori

Sagebrush in Northern Nevada

This year in Northern Nevada the sagebrush is just ablaze.

Sagebrush is the Nevada state flower.

Let's be honest, sagebrush probably won't be winning any beauty contests in the flower world. Quite a bit of competition out there. But this year our sagebrush bloomed in her full glory and I think she could hold her own in a desert flower contest!

The wide open spaces of the wild west!

Our autumn colors may be subtle but they are beautiful in their own way.

I hope you enjoyed my sagebrush picture fest. A little peak of fall here in Nevada.

I hope you are savoring natures bounty this fall where you live. Thank you for stopping by, make sure to come back and visit again, Lori
